We added this switch to our site because ventilation systems need to be run longer than the time a bathroom is occupied, and people hate "crank" timers that tick-tick-ticking until the time runs out with a "snap". This switch allows you to push one of the preset time buttons for 10, 20, 30, or 60 minute operation.
Note that many building experts recommend that the ventilation system run for at least 20 minutes after a shower. But it is preferrable to run it for at least an hour so that the water can dry in the shower and in the towels.
This control requires a neutral connection to work. It cannot replace a simple "broken" hot line switch. Also it should be installed in a relatively deep wiring box because there are 4 wire nut connections:
Green connects to ground
Black connects to black - line hot
White connects to white line neutral and neutral line for the controlled device
Blue connects to the hot feed to the fan
As homes get tighter, Indoor Air Quality or IAQ, becomes increasingly important. Good ventilation is required to keep your and your family and your home healthy.
