Heyoka Solutions believes in the mission of the following organizations because they represent programs and activities that match Heyoka's goal of creating healthy, affordable, and sustainable housing and learning and teaching the best ways to do that.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) advance technology to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world. Heyoka Solutions' principal, Paul Raymer is a full member of ASHRAE and serves as the recording secretary for the SSPC 62.2 committee that maintains the only national standard for residential ventilation.
Building America's Industrialized Housing Partnership(BAIHP) is the only university based Building America team competitively funded by the US Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy-Building Technologies program. They are working on some fantastic projects for cooling that Heyoka Solutions is assisting with and have buildings that you can monitor on line.
As a company that promotes Energy Star products such as the Fantech products, Heyoka Solutions is an Energy Star Partner. The Energy Star brand has probably done more to promote a recognizable image of energy efficient products than any other program. There aren't product categories for all products (including whole house comfort ventilators). They are so busy maintaining the existing categories that there is a three year delay for any new ones.
HVI is the Home Ventilating Institute. Heyoka is a former member. It is the trade association for the manufacturers of residential ventilation products including fans, heat and energy recovery ventilators, passive vents, and ventilation fittings and accessories. HVI certifies the performance of residential ventilation products so that when the consumer needs to choose, the information they are getting is not just the manufacturer's wishful performance thinking but data produced in a third party laboratory under standardized testing criteria. Paul Raymer is the IAQ liaison for HVI.
The National Association of the Remodeling Industy (NARI) brings together remodelers and associated product manufacturers. Its core purpose is to advance and promote the remodeling industry's professionalism. Heyoka Solutions provides webinars and on-site training events.
The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) is the Northeast's leading organization of professionals working in sustainable energy, whole-systems thinking and green technologies. NESEA advances the adoption and practical application of sustainable, low carbon energy practices. NESEA accomplishes this through a number of ongoing programs and annual events. Paul Raymer was a board member and treasurer of NESEA for many years.
The Residential Energy Services Nethwork's (RESNET®) mission is to ensure the success of the building energy performance certification industry, set the standards of quality, and increase the opportunity for ownership of high performance buildings. RESNET's standards are officially recognized by the U.S. mortgage industry for capitalizing a buildings' energy performance in the mortgage loan, certification of "White Tags" for private financial investors, and by the federal government for verification of building energy performance for such programs as federal tax incentives, the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR program and the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America program. RESNET supports the Home Energy Ratings System (HERS).
The Society of Building Science Educators (SBSE) is an association of university educators and practitioners in architecture and related disciplines who support excellence in the teaching of environmental science and building technologies. SBSE's goal of promoting and supporting quality instruction in building science is realized through a broad range of practical activities. Heyoka Solutions is proud to be a part of this organization and promote excellence in building science education in both academic and non-academic situations and through lively professional discourse.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is "a community of leaders working to make green buildings available to everyone within a generation". The USGBC developed the LEED program which has enhanced the energy efficiency of commercial and residential buildings, high rise and low rise, schools, retail establishments, and communities. Paul Raymer of Heyoka Solutions is a former member of the TASC for IAQ to evaluate LEED requests and interpret LEED criteria. He also reviews submissions for presentations at the national Greenbuild Conference.
Efficiency First is a national nonprofit trade association that unites the Home Performance workforce, building product manufacturers and related businesses and organizations in the escalating fight against global warming and rising energy costs. Efficiency First represents its members in public policy discussions at the state and national levels, to promote the benefits of efficiency retrofitting and to help our industry grow to meet unprecedented demand for quality residential energy improvements.
ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) is a group of over 4,000 air conditioning contractors who work together to improve our industry, promote good practices, and keep homes and buildings safe, clean and comfortable. ACCA shares the goal of making the HVACR industry, and every professional contracting business, more successful. They bring contractors together through unique learning opportunities, and providing exclusive technical, legal, and marketing resources. With roots stretching back nearly a century, ACCA is the only nationwide organization of, by and for the small businesses that design, install and maintain indoor environmental systems. ACCA developed and maintains Manuals J and D for ducting design and installation.
